Jordi Savall Announces 2 New Releases and U.S. Concert Dates
Available December 16th, a cornerstone of the Bible, this program from Jordi Savall features three masterpieces based on the Dixit Dominus that enable us to experience the full maturity of his ensembles. The vivid orchestral colors, the ideal spacing of the instruments, the infallible virtuosity of the choir. This performance brings out both the delicate and the bold within these works establishing a new standard for recordings of 18th Century music.
Available January 29th, this beautiful live recording, made at the Santa Maria del Pi church in Barcelona, is Jordi Savall's well deserved tribute to one of the most famous manuscripts of ancient music. The Llibre Vermell de Montserrat is a 14th-century manuscript compiled at the monastery of Montserrat in Catalonia. It is named for the red binding into which the collection was placed in the 19th century. These devotional texts containing late medieval songs and dances were written in Catalan, Occitan and Latin for pilgrims who needed something appropriately 'chaste and pious' for singing and dancing.
